Fifth Grade - Hybrid

Fifth grade is the capstone of lower school. This year is a time to complete the foundational love of learning through a hand on approach to all subjects. Rich fiction and non fiction texts are used to bring context and story to the history and science curriculum.

Rome, the life of Jesus, early church history, Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation are studied from an in-depth Christian perspective using the various curriculum resources. Students complete a timeline and create a history notebook with a page for each major event or person, map work, and illustrated pages to color.  Learning is reinforced through hands-on projects such as creating a Saudi Arabia sand map, performing a mock trail, and designing a 3D castle and more.

Grade appropriate spelling, handwriting, creative writing, and grammar are taught using a variety of materials.  Students will enjoy reading novels throughout the year.
