Four-year-old Curriculum

Because young children learn best through manipulation of materials and hands-on activities, we believe academic learning at this age should be playful and exploratory. That’s why learning centers make up the biggest portion of our daily schedule. The centers change and rotate on a daily basis and include construction, dramatic play, art, phonics, science, and math.

Bible
Daily Bible lessons help children begin to understand God’s amazing power and His unconditional love for each of them. The Pre-4 Bible curriculum includes Bible songs, verses and stories.

Reading Readiness
Phonological awareness (songs, poems, rhymes, letter recognition) helps to lay the groundwork for future strong readers. The Pre-4 students are introduced to vowels, blends, and sounding out one-vowel words.  Teachers use a variety of resources, which include Teachers Pay Teachers and ABeka materials to reinforce letter names and sounds.

Math
Hands-on activities in the Houghton Mifflin Pre-K Math curriculum create a solid foundation for mathematical learning. These activities explore two and three-dimensional shapes, sorting, graphing, counting, and patterning.
